An Artistic Eye

On Friday we decided it would be fun to let Evelyn make some artwork for her room. So, we went to Michael's and bought some finger paints and a big sheet of white paper. When we got home we stripped her down, threw some paint on the paper and let her go at it. She had a blast. She was slipping and sliding all over the place, making a total mess and loving every minute of it.
As you can see she had no problem jumping in and getting her hands dirty.

she didn't even attempt to eat the paint, which was great because that was the only thing Dave and I were worried about.

I love this bottom right picture. She looks so intent. She knows exactly what she wants this paint to be and she is concentrating had to make it perfect.
She wanted to take a break for a minute.

Back to work. Evelyn didn't actually get any paint on her face but I thought she need some so I attacked her with the red.

Here is the finished masterpiece. Now we are going to frame it and hang it in her room for all to see. i am so proud of my little artist. She did an impressive job.

Thankful Thursday

I am totally stealing this post idea from Amy, who stole it from Lisa so thanks girls. The idea is that every Thursday you tell what you are thankful for and today is Thursday so here we go.

- I am thankful for My husband ( David ), he is the most awesome companion and friend. I can't even begin to explain how well he treats me. For example, the other day I was sitting at the computer ( blogging I suppose ) and Dave was in the living room studying when he asked me to come over to the living room and lie on the floor. I thought he was going to try and find a pulse or feel a lymph node that he was studying about but instead he started giving me a back massage. It was a really great one too. Later I asked him what brought that on and he said that he was thinking how good it would feel to have a back rub and then he thought I probably would like one too. I know, I told you he was AWESOME!!Anyhow, I love David so much. I am so blessed to have him by my side.

-I am thankful for The little moments with my baby girl. Like when I am
feeding her and she touches my face and puts her little hand on my lips,
waiting for me to kiss it. And at night when I go check on her one last time
before I go to bed and my heart swells and I realize just how much I love her.

- I am thankful for Shout. Without shout I would have to buy David, Evelyn, and myself a new wardrobe each week. We are messy people.

White Cat

Let me give some background first.
A few months ago we woke up to the sound of Gary eating, which would have been totally normal except Gary was laying at the bottom of the bed. David, realizing something was wrong, got out of bed to investigate. As he did we saw a white blur across our room and out through the cat flap. This would happen periodically over the next couple of months. We also began finding cat pee randomly around the house. Needless to say I wanted the cat gone, but David being the animal lover that he is wanted to get him fixed and let him hang around. Either way we had to catch the cat first.

So, Friday night we trapped White Cat ( as we later dubbed him) in our room and David dawned his cat catching suit. White Cat was under our bed so David grabbed his trusty racket to coax him out.

White cat tried to escape but you can't escape a man in a motorcycle jacket and gardening gloves. Sadly, my basil took a fall for the team. We were able to spare a few sprouts though.

David shoved White cat into the carrier and I slammed the gate shut.

Victory! For team Creek!
The next day we ran all over town looking for someone to take White cat off our hands. We even inquired about getting him fixed but apparently the spraying doesn't stop if the behavior had begun . Finally after two and half hours of running around town we took him to the Clovis SPCA where David said his final good-byes. David is now weighed down with guilt, he says he can still here White Cat's irritating cries at night because his blood is on our heads. But we couldn't having him peeing all over the nursery.
Farewell White Cat.

Easily Amused

It always amazes me what amuses children. Evelyn has apparently acquired David's characteristic of being very easily amused.

Yep! She is Crawling

I can't believe Evelyn is already crawling! She is a few months a head of schedule so it really seems weird to see such a tiny little girl racing across the floor. She is amazing!

Call me Green-thumb

David likes to do a vegetable garden every year and every year he wants me to get out in the garden and work with him and every year I work for maybe a total of 30 mins. the whole season. I am just not a work in the hot sun kind of person. So, this year I started my own little gardens. Gardens that don't get weeds and don't need hula-hoeing or raking or shoveling. My kind of gardens.
Here is my strawberry pot. It's so pretty!

And this is my Herb garden. YAY!
Evelyn got jealous of Mommy and Daddy, she wanted to play in the dirt too. So, I gave her some dirt to play with.
